Virgin Atlantic is the UK’s only 5 star airline with 35 global destinations. This includes various cities within the United States, India, United Arab Emirates and the Caribbean.
Earlier this year, Virgin Atlantic joined the SkyTeam airline alliance which is one of the biggest airline partnerships. Members include: KLM, Air France, Delta, Korean Air, and MEA.
Reward Flight Program
So you might be wondering why am I emphasising so much on Virgin Atlantic? You might have done a quick search to compare flight costs to the United States with other big airlines and might have found a similar price range. However, the major benefit of Virgin Atlantic sits within its reward flight scheme.
Virgin Atlantic has a great list of destinations where reward flights are beneficial. This includes the United States where savings can reach around £200-300 per return flight. It also includes destinations with SkyTeam partnered airlines in which savings can vary from £100 to £400.
So what’s the caveat? Well reward flights require a number of airline membership points which vary based on destinations. Virgin Atlantic membership programme is called the Flying Club (FC) Membership and acquiring FC points may be done through the following:
- Regular travels with Virgin Atlantic and Partners (Excludes reward flights)
- Purchases done through the Virgin Red website
- Credit Cards (American Express Gold Membership Rewards Credit Card and Virgin Atlantic Reward/+ Credit Card)
Now my favourite method is through credit cards:
How do you spend your Virgin Points?
If you have acquired an enough amount of Virgin Atlantic points, then you can redeem them through Virgin Atlantic’s Reward Seat Checker or you can search for a flight on their website then filter to “Show price with Points”. Please see below for an example:

You can also search for reward flights with any of Virgin Atlantic’s SkyTeam partners or Delta Airlines.
